Situation Analysis

In mid-2014, Value Place selected MSI and SHR to migrate all of their properties to an integrated CRS-PMS solution. As part of this migration effort, ValuePlace asked SHR to collaborate with them to design and develop a completely new website and online booking experience.

The previous ValuePlace website and booking engine was created by their digital marketing agency. Though a quite competent solution, particularly in regards to online marketing, the site lacked a more full integration with the CRS and PMS. At the same time there was a need to overhaul the entire user experience and make it easier for the Value Place marketing team to manage site content and allow them to better promote special offers and rates.

SHR Approach

In collaboration with Value Place, SHR designed and developed a new website and booking experience. In addition to making it easier to manage site content, another of the primary requirements from Value Place, was that the booking experience had to facilitate true multi-property-multi-room reservations. Another requirement was that the booking flow had to be much faster with a focus on completing the reservation. Another requirement was that the entire site had to preserve Value Place’s overall search equity which it had built up over the years with extensive search engine marketing.


The new site launched in early December 2014. The new Value Place site is deployed using a popular open-source CMS which is not only SEO-optimized but is also familiar and user-friendly for the Value Place marketing and franchise support teams. The booking engine is seamlessly incorporated into the website, so the entire branded booking experience happens within “www.valueplace.com.” An itinerary metaphor is used on the site, and guests can easily make a complex reservation. A single reservation can include multiple properties and multiple rooms, each with a specific occupancy.
